Maple Leafs’ Frattin out with knee injury

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matt Frattin will join goaltender James Reimer on the sidelines, the team announced Tuesday.

The young scorer will be out for a minimum of one week with an MCL issue. A medical procedure is required for his surgically repaired knee.

Frattin first injured his knee during the AHL playoffs with the Toronto Marlies last May. After scoring a goal against the Oklahoma City Barons, he crashed into the net and could not compete in the Calder Cup final.

The forward underwent surgery in June which caused him to miss the start of the 2012-13 AHL season.

Frattin, who has been an offensive boon tot he Leafs, did not skate with the team Wednesday.

In 10 games with the club this season, the 25-year-old Frattin has scored seven goals and three assists. He is a plus-six.

The Leafs, who are on a four-game winning streak, next play Thursday in Carolina.
