For those who believe that we cast our vote with our spending money (we see you, shop-local-think-global folk) and stand firmly in the players’ corner during this lockout debacle, this ad encourages you to buy NHLPA-branded hockey gear (now available at Wal-Mart!).
For those boycotting all things NHL and NHLPA, this slick new advertisement will only serve to remind you of the marketing potential that’s going to waste right now. Who can’t relate to a puck-dinged garage door? Or getting dinged by their father for creating one?
Watch San Jose Sharks all-star Logan Couture link up with little friend Ryan, age 8, and fire 800 pucks at a carport. According to the NHLPA’s description, the effort took them four hours.
The resulting masterpiece, dubbed “Avant Garage,” will be mounted at Couture’s hometown arena in Lucan, Ont.
As for Couture himself, the centreman is now playing overseas for Geneva-Servette in Switzerland. On Saturday his new club defeated Sharks buddy Joe Thornton’s HC Davos 3-0.
