The Boston Bruins are planning to offer goaltender Tuukka Rask a contract extension, according to a report from NESN.
Although nothing is set in stone, Rask is expected to be given an offer before season’s end.

On Thursday, the Bruins traded away last year’s starter Tim Thomas — who decided to sit out the final year of his contract to focus on his personal life — to the New York Islanders for a conditional second-round pick.
“Breaching my own policy (of not discussing contracts), we will bring up talks with Tuukka at some point in this season, in hoping to extend him,” Chiarelli told NESN.
So far this season, the native of Savonlinna, Finland is 6-1-1 with a .922 save percentage, 1.96 goals against average and one shutout.
Last summer, the 25-year-old signed a one-year deal worth $3.5 million and is set to become a restricted free agent at the end of the 2013 campaign.
Rask was drafted 21st overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2005 NHL Draft and was acquired by the Bruins in 2006 in a trade for Andrew Raycroft.
