Myers is the second Sabre to join the Austrian League, following in the footsteps of teammate Thomas Vanek who signed with his hometown team Graz EC Oct. 1. The towering blueliner is the seventh NHLer to head to Austria, joining Chicago’s Bryan Bickell, Detroit’s Jan Mursak, Edmonton’s Corey Potter, Pittsburgh’s Dustin Jeffrey and the Islanders’ Michael Grabner.
The 22-year-old finished with eight goals and 23 points in 55 games with the Sabres last season, his third in the NHL. Myers was drafted 12th overall by the Sabres in 2008.
