The Dallas Stars will have their hands full in their second-round matchup against the St. Louis Blues and, for at least the first few games, they’ll be without Tyler Seguin.
“He can’t skate yet, I can say that,” Stars GM Jim Nill said via Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News. “He’s day-to-day, and once he gets on the ice, it’s probably four to five days from there.”
Seguin missed a month due to a laceration of his left Achilles tendon sustained March 17. The winger suited up for Game 2 of the Stars’ first-round series against the Minnesota Wild April 16 but was injured in that game and hasn’t played since.
The nature of Seguin’s latest injury is unknown but Stars coach Lindy Ruff described it as “kind of related” to his Achilles injury.
The Stars-Blues series begins Friday in Dallas and it’s unclear when Seguin might be ready. Dallas has gone 11-4 (regular season and playoffs combined) without Seguin since his initial injury.
“I have to give a lot of credit to our team for stepping up,” Nill added. “From the top player all the way through, they have responded to Tyler’s injury and we have played some of our best hockey after that. I think when you look at the pressure of fighting for the division championship and having to do that without one of your best players, it’s a great accomplishment to finish first.”
