Golf, according to the well-tread punch line entrenched in fact, is the hobby of hockey men who have been eliminated early in the playoffs.
But judging by the exploits of Pittsburgh Penguins MVP Evgeni Malkin, who caught a hammerhead shark, and now Vancouver Canucks general manager Mike Gillis, first-round victims of the NHL’s 2012 postseason seem to be taking out their frustrations on the open sea.
Gillis is a selective tweeter. Last time he took to social media, it was to announce that he had struck a deal with goaltender Cory Schneider.
On Sunday Gillis announced the landing of a much more literal big fish: a 140-pound tuna, with an assist from B.C. sport fishing resort West Coast Fishing.
Reports that the specimen will be packaged in the Roberto Luongo deal are unconfirmed and ridiculous.
Caught this 140LBS tuna in Panama. Thanks to @WCFishingClub. twitter.com/GMMikeGillis/s… — Mike Gillis (@GMMikeGillis) July 16, 2012
