Former Columbus Blue Jackets coach Scott Arniel is set to join the Vancouver Canucks’ front office.
According to a report from Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch on Thursday, Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson has given the Canucks permission to hire Arniel as an advance scout.
Portzline also tweeted that the Canucks will not be paying Arniel.
Arniel was head coach of the Manitoba Moose from 2006-10, when they were the AHL affiliate of the Canucks.
The Blue Jackets hired Arniel as head coach in 2010. He was fired on Jan. 9 as Columbus sat in last place in the Western Conference with an 11-25-5 record.
