Vegas GM McPhee hires former Capitals scout Wil Nichol

Newly named Las Vegas GM George McPhee joined Prime Time Sports to talk about the process of getting the job and what he envisions in his new city.

The NHL’s Las Vegas franchise hired Wil Nichol as director of player development on Thursday.

Nichol is a familiar face for Vegas GM George McPhee, as the two worked together in Washington, where Nichol most recently served as a scout. McPhee spent 17 years at the helm of the Capitals, from 1997 to 2014. Nichol began his NHL scouting career there in 2011.

Earlier this week, the expansion club named longtime WHL Brandon Wheat Kings owner, GM and coach Kelly McCrimmon as assistant GM.

The team will make its on-ice debut in 2017-18.
