Vegas Golden Knights hold 24-hour open house for prospective fans

Chris Johnston explains why the Vegas Golden Knights could get involved with the NHL trade deadline and talks about the battered and bruised Ottawa Senators.

On Tuesday, the Vegas Golden Knights invited the public to T-Mobile Arena for an open house. It was a chance for season-ticket holders—and prospective season-ticket holders—to check out the home of the NHL’s newest team, set to make its debut this fall.

As Steve Carp of the Las Vegas-Review Journal reports, a number of would-be fans showed up throughout the day to explore the team’s facilities. Every time someone purchased season tickets, they got to bang a gong in honour of the occasion.

The open house, which kicked off at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, was scheduled as a 24-hour event, because, in the words of team owner Bill Foley, Las Vegas is “a 24-hour town.”

For every hour of the open house, the Golden Knights were awarding tickets to their home opener.

The event gave fans a chance to get a closer look at the arena—to sit on the Golden Knights’ bench or check out the view from the penalty box. The team also offered information sessions and demonstrations about hockey, including target practice:

Not all the activities were hockey-focused, though. Because sometimes the only thing that will do is a game of Jenga.
