Victor Hedman leaves game vs. Flames with lower-body injury

Tampa Bay Lightning defencemen Victor Hedman would be slow to leave the ice after taking a hit along the boards.

Tampa Bay Lightning defenceman Victor Hedman left Thursday’s game against the Calgary Flames with a lower-body injury.

The injury occurred partway through the second period when Hedman appeared to injure his left knee in a collision with Flames forward Garnet Hathaway. Hedman was then seen being helped to the Lightning locker room.

Hedman, who was named to his second all-star game earlier this week, is third in defence scoring with 33 points. His plus-24 rating leads all defencemen and 25:56 average ice time per game is sixth among all players.
