Vladimir Putin plays hockey, isn’t very good

If you play hockey against Vladimir Putin in Russia, you may not want to play your toughest shutdown defense against him.

The Russian president is a lover of the game of hockey and he was especially crushed after his country failed to medal at the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games. And he’s been known to hit the ice from time to time.

Today comes a new video of Putin on the ice.

The video says this pick up game was played with former and current heads of Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League. Putin gets a few chances but, c’mon, that’s some weak defense. At the 41-second mark, the defenseman on the other team just gives him the puck!

He doesn’t exactly look like a player who’d legitimately light up the lamp, does he? But the last time we saw Putin on the ice, they say he scored six goals and five assists in an exhibition game that his team won 21-4.

Putin's team on that day included the likes of Pavel Bure and Vyacheslav Fetisov, among others.
