What kind of world would it be if sports writers literally ate their words when a team proved them wrong?

Vyacheslav Fedorenkov, a writer for Belarusian paper Pressball, did just that when the KHL team he covers made the playoffs.

Fedorenkov had written that Dinamo Minsk would not make the post-season and after they eventually did, the sports writer ate a copy of Pressball, according to Naviny.by and translated by BBC News.

He chowed down on the ink with a bowl of soup, alongside a bottle of Coke. “I will be frank with you lads,” Fedorenkov told the gathered media, “Don’t joke like this and don’t make such promises, because they are pretty difficult to deliver.”

Dinamo Minsk coach Craig Woodcroft didn’t pressure Fedorenkov to eat his words, but was nonetheless impressed. “I will remember his deed every time I enter this room,” he said.
