The seven Canadian teams were quite active Tuesday, signing 18 players for more than $144.1 million and making a couple of trades. Ottawa got what it could for Jason Spezza, while the Habs shipped out defenceman Josh Gorges, but not to the Maple Leafs, which is a story in and of itself.
There were a few head-shakers thrown in there, but not like what we saw south of the border. We begin in the West, where the Canucks made the biggest splash north of the 49th by signing the top available goaltender.
