In the cool tradition of emotion-tugging Stanley Cup promotional spots produced by the NHL, like “Handshake” and the Emmy-winning “No Words,” comes “What’s in a Name?”
Narrated by the familiar voice of Liev Schreiber (anyone else miss him on 24/7 this season?), the advertisement cobbles together sepia-toned images of playoff heroes past and reminds us of the heartbreak, triumph and legacy we’re in for in the next two weeks.
“With each Stanley Cup Final spot, we celebrate aspects of the game that are unique to the NHL,” said Brian Jennings, the league’s chief marketing officer and executive VP, in a press release.
“Every player dreams of winning a championship. In the NHL, the achievement of winning the Stanley Cup is made more special with the engraving of your name alongside some of the greatest to ever play the game.”
Chills.
