What’s up with bitey, snotty Claude Giroux?

By all accounts, Claude Giroux is having a good year so far in the 2014-15 NHL season.

He has eight goals and 35 points in 31 games, which ties him for fifth in NHL scoring. His plus-7 rating is second-highest on the team. He’s the captain and face of the Philadelphia Flyers franchise. And, not to be forgotten, he’s getting paid $10 million this season, the first of a brand new eight-year contract.

So who urinated in his Corn Flakes?

Giroux has been on a run of curious, hilarious behaviour lately. On Tuesday in a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Giroux was at the faceoff dot preparing to take a draw when he decided to wipe his nose and use the linesman as his handkerchief. Buh?

And then there was Thursday night against the Florida Panthers. For no apparent reason whatsoever, between whistles, Giroux was gliding alongside Panthers defender Erik Gudbranson and chomped down on the shoulder of his jersey.

What the heck is up with this?

Meanwhile, the NHL is having a serious mumps problem.

Giroux hasn’t been known for pulling these kinds of antics in his career, but he’s quickly becoming a must-watch player for reasons other than his natural point-producing ability. But, seriously, what’s up with him lately?

Claude, you’re strange, bro.
