ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Wild have placed right wing Justin Fontaine on injured reserve to set their initial roster for the regular season.

The Wild also assigned defenceman Mike Reilly to their AHL affiliate Tuesday and placed centre Jordan Schroeder on waivers. Fontaine has an unspecified upper-body injury and can be activated at any time.

That meant rookie centre Tyler Graovac made the team. He’s been on the third line during training camp with Thomas Vanek and Charlie Coyle.

With Nate Prosser also around for depth on defence, the Wild decided to send Reilly to Iowa so he could play regularly. The 22-year-old played for the University of Minnesota the past two seasons.

The Wild start their season Thursday at Colorado. Their home opener is Saturday against St. Louis.
