Zuccarello out after taking slapshot to head

Watch as Mats Zuccarello of the New York Rangers takes a slap shot to the head while battling in front of the net.

New York Rangers winger Mats Zuccarello left the ice after taking a puck to the head during Friday’s Game 5 against the Pittsburgh Penguins and will not return, according to the team.

Zuccarello was battling in front of the net when a slapshot from teammate Ryan McDonagh caught him on the left side of the head with just over four minutes left in the first period.

While he did not go down, he immediately skated off the ice. After taking a moment on the team bench, he left the game.

The 27-year-old native of Oslo, Norway tallied 15 goals and 34 assists for 49 points during the regular season, and has two assists in the series.
