OHL Roundup: Steelheads snap Fronts’ win streak

KINGSTON, Ont. – Nicolas Hague had the winner in the third period and Jack Flinn made 41 saves as the Mississauga Steelheads snapped Kingston’s nine-game winning streak with a 2-1 victory over the Frontenacs on Friday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Michael McLeod scored 23 seconds into the third period to tie the game for Mississauga (32-29-4).

Warren Foegele found the back of the net for the Frontenacs (44-16-4). Jeremy Helvig turned away 18 shots in defeat.

Kingston’s last defeat came on Feb. 18 in Peterborough against the Petes.

The Steelheads were 0 for 2 on the power play while the Frontenacs failed to score on four chances.

COLTS 7, WOLVES 3

SUDBURY, Ont. — Andrew Mangiapane had a goal and three assists to lead Barrie past the Wolves.

Dylan Sadowy struck twice for the Colts (41-20-2), who won their sixth in a row. Kody Gagnon, Kevin Labanc, Josh Carrick and Keigan Goetz supplied the rest of the offence.

David Levin had a goal and two assists for Sudbury (16-43-5), with Reagan O’Grady and Dmitry Sokolov also chipping in.

STING 4, SPIRIT 3 (OT)

SARNIA, Ont. — Travis Konecny scored the winner on a penalty shot in overtime as the Sting edged Saginaw.

Pavel Zacha, Anthony Salinitri and Matt Mistele also had goals for Sarnia (39-18-7), which won its third in a row.

Mitchell Stephens struck twice with Brady Gilmour adding the other for the Spirit (23-34-7).

KNIGHTS 2, GREYHOUNDS 1

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. — Max Jones scored the winner as London slipped past the Greyhounds for its sixth straight win.

Christian Dvorak had the other for the Knights (48-13-3).

Zachary Senyshyn opened the scoring with a power-play goal for Sault Ste. Marie (31-25-8).

OTTERS 4, STORM 1

GUELPH, Ont. — Alex DeBrincat had a hat trick and added an assist as Erie got past the Storm.

Dylan Strome scored once and tacked on three assists for the Otters (49-14-1).

C.J. Garcia found the back of the net for Guelph (12-45-8).

RANGERS 3, ATTACK 2 (OT)

KITCHENER, Ont. — Ryan MacInnis scored 2:22 into overtime as the Rangers topped Owen Sound.

Nick Magyar and Gustaf Franzen had second-period goals for Kitchener (41-15-7), which snapped a four-game slide.

Nick Suzuki opened the scoring early in the second with Petrus Palmu tying the game at 2-2 in the third for the Attack (30-23-11).

GENERALS 2, BATTALION 1 (OT)

OSHAWA, Ont. — Mitchell Vande Sompel scored a power-play goal 38 seconds into overtime as the Generals slipped past North Bay.

Eric Henderson had a goal just past the midway point in the first period for Oshawa (25-31-8).

Jacob Ball scored for the Battalion (32-23-9).

North Bay’s Zack Poirier was assessed a game misconduct in the second period.
