Oil Change: Overdrive

TORONTO -– Citytv and Sportsnet go beyond the blue line for a behind-the-scenes look at the 2011-2012 Edmonton Oilers in the network premiere of Oil Change: Overdrive. Beginning Friday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. (MT) on Citytv Edmonton and Sunday, Oct. 23 at 11 p.m. (MT) on Sportsnet West, the second season of the critically-acclaimed documentary series gives viewers exclusive access to the team as they fight for a playoff spot.

Each of the six, one-hour episodes follows the Oilers on the ice, in the dressing room and away from the rink both at home and on the road.

“We are thrilled to have this property on both Citytv and Sportsnet this year,” said Scott Moore, President of Broadcasting, Rogers Media Television. “Not only is Oil Change: Overdrive compelling entertainment that goes deep inside one of the youngest and exciting franchises in the NHL, this series is the perfect complement to the 60 Oilers games we’ll be televising on Sportsnet West and Sportsnet Oilers.”

Entering his third season as the man in charge, Oilers General Manager Steve Tambellini knows there are increased expectations on the team this year, but he has no reservations about letting television audiences – and hockey fans – experience the highs and lows of a rebuilding franchise. With revealing insights from the players, coaches, management team and training staff woven throughout the series, each compelling episode chronicles the team’s quest for success on – and off – the ice.

The Gemini Award nominated series Oil Change: Overdrive is produced by Edmonton-based Aquila Productions. Don Metz is the executive producer of the series and Gord Redel is the producer.

"I know and understand there is an incredible appetite for all things hockey in this country and we intend on satisfying that appetite with great storytelling," said Don Metz.
