COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have dealt forward Raffi Torres to the Buffalo Sabres for defenceman Nathan Paetsch and a second-round draft pick.
Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson announced the trade shortly before the NHL trade deadline of 3 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
Torres, 28, who can become an unrestricted free agent this summer, had 19 goals and 12 assists for the Blue Jackets in 60 games this season. He will provide much-needed grit and offence to the Sabres' attack.
Buffalo, fifth in the Eastern Conference standings, is only four points behind second-place New Jersey.
Paetsch, 26, has seven goals and 35 assists in 157 career NHL games.
