Vancouver Canucks President and General Manager Mike Gillis announced Wednesday that the Canucks have acquired defenceman Sean Zimmerman and a 2010 conditional sixth-round draft selection from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for defenceman Mathieu Schneider.

Zimmerman, 22, has collected seven points (2-5-7) and 75 penalty minutes in 54 games with the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL. The Denver, CO, native won a bronze medal with Team USA at the 2007 World Junior Championships.

Schneider was demoted to the club's AHL affiliate in Manitoba prior tot he Olympic break. The defenceman's signing bobus was paid out by the Canucks on Tuesday.
