WHL Roundup: Berg lifts Pats over Hurricanes

REGINA — Adam Berg scored the go-ahead goal 18:34 into the third period to lead the Regina Pats to a 5-3 home victory over the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Sunday in Western Hockey League action.

Colby Williams, Luc Smith, Jake Leschyshyn and Austin Wagner, into an empty net, also scored for Regina (9-8-1).

Arvin Atwal, Tyler Wong, and Giorgio Estephan supplied the offence for the Hurricanes (12-8-0).

Tyler Brown made 33 saves in the victory while Stuart Skinner stopped 35 shots in the losing effort.

The Pats were 0 for 2 on the power play while Lethbridge scored once on two chances with the man advantage.

RAIDERS 3 WHEAT KINGS 2

BRANDON, Man. — Reid Gardiner scored his second goal of the game shorthanded at 12:51 of the third period to break a 2-2 tie and lift Prince Albert over the Wheat Kings.

Luke Coleman had the other goal for the Raiders (13-5-3).

Kale Clague and Luke Harrison scored for Brandon (12-7-2).

BLAZERS 9 COUGARS 1

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Gage Quinney had three goals and an assist and Collin Shirley scored twice and set up three more as the Blazers hammered Prince George.

Matt Revel had a pair of goals for Kamloops (9-8-1) while Nick Chyzowski and Jermaine Loewen added the others. Quinn Benjafield tacked on three helpers of his own.

Brogan O’Brien found the back of the net for the Cougars (10-8-1).
