Jets’ Kane picks NBA Finals over Cup playoffs

Basketball fan Evander Kane is, um, ticked off that his Winnipeg Jets are on the outside looking in at the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Sports fans with dual allegiances were left with a sofa’s choice Thursday night: Game 1 of the NBA finals or Game 4 of the NHL’s Western Conference final. Both games were tightly contested; both came down to the wire at roughly the same time. (More than few “last” buttons on TV remotes got a workout, we’re sure.)

But for Evander Kane, the viewing decision was a slam dunk. The Winnipeg Jets’ star forward has no interest in watching playoff hockey. Take it from his Twitter timeline.

Kane began the evening tweeting about the showdown between the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs:

So when Kane’s hockey-fan followers expressed shock that the forward wasn’t tuning into the sport he actually plays, the 21-year-old Vancouver native went on a good ol’ fashioned Twitter rant:

In four NHL seasons, the talented Kane has yet to taste postseason play. Kane’s Jets, you’ll recall, came oh so close to upsetting the Washington Capitals in the last week of the regular season and stealing the Southeast Division.

Kane’s passion, typed out 140 (or less) characters at a time, is proof you don’t have to be in the playoffs to start making guarantees. Nor do you have to be eight OV deep and starting a bottle of porte to write a memorable Tweet speech.
