Rashad Evans has gone from headlining UFC 85 to off the card entirely. A scheduled bout for the UFC’s upcoming event in London, England between Rashad Evans and James Irvin has been scrapped after Irvin suffered a broken foot.
The undefeated Evans was originally announced to be taking on Chuck Liddell in the main event of show, taking place on June 7 at the O2 Arena. But Irvin stepped in to replace Liddell, who was hampered by an injury of his own, and the match was dropped from its top billing when Matt Hughes agreed to a fight against Thiago Alves.
The renamed UFC 85: Bedlam takes a hit with the loss of Evans’ bout from the televised card, but in its place a previously scheduled undercard matchup between Nate Marquardt and Thales Leites will now be seen on the pay-per-view.
And the event will still be highlighted by a number of intriguing fights, including Mike Swick against Marcus Davis and Fabricio Werdum vs. Brandon Vera, as well as Canadian Jason Day making his second UFC appearance in less than two months. He stepped in as a late replacement again and will face native Englishman Michael Bisping in the second-to-last fight of the night.
