CBSSports.com has reported that Roy Jones Jr. would like to fight Anderson Silva in the Octagon.
The potential of this fight never seems to go away, but with UFC president Dana White turning down the offer, it leaves a variety of people puzzled.
White did state it's not the type of fight he wants to put on, but it leaves many of us in the old school wondering how a boxer would do in the UFC versus a fighter that has today's evolved MMA skill-set.
I am personally surprised White would not want to put this fight on. I wonder if there is a fear that Silva may use this chance to actually "box" the 40-year-old Jones, as opposed to truly fighting him in an MMA fight.
At 40 years old or not, Jones still has serious boxing skills that I believe would give Silva a run for his money.
FiveOuncesofPain is reporting that Jones is interested in a possible matchup with Nick Diaz in Strikeforce.
Jones appears adamant to get into a cage and fight MMA. There seems to be an underlying issue here and the question is: What is the method behind his madness?
Surely has not run out of money, but is his desire to compete or is it to stay within the public eye?
No one can deny his boxing skills but I do not like his chances in an MMA fight with any of the upper echelon fighters at welterweight or middleweight in MMA.
