Dana White vs. Tom Atencio - not in this lifetime

As much as folks are clamoring at seeing White and Atencio duke it out in a cage, ring or back alley, it's not going to happen.

I personally applaud Atencio for stepping into the cage and putting his money where his mouth is, but calling out White is a tad self-serving. He knows there is a miniscule chance that White would accept, so it's easy for him to send out the challenge.

I've done some research and found out that Atencio has some serious skills, but according to the UFC President, he has his priorities mixed up.

According to Cage Writer, White said the following: "Let me tell you something: When I was $44 million in the hole, the last thing I was doing was leaving the office and going out to train for a joke of a fight. I was in the office and trying to find a way to make this thing work. Why would I waste one second of my second of my day worrying about this [expletive] guy? He should be worried about the millions and millions of his bosses, or his partners' money, whoever it is, that's he's burning. That's a complete joke."

Frank Trigg vs. Roy Jones Jr

So Frank "Twinkle Toes" Trigg wants to take on Roy Jones Jr, and as much as many promoters disagree with it, I want to see this fight.

Trigg has fought some of the world's best and provided he does not trade bombs with Jones Jr, this fight doesn't last a round. He should be able to corner Jones Jr, clinch and take the former Pound for Pound champ to the ground, where the fight should end fairly quickly.

I am hoping to speak with Trigg on Thursday's edition of "The Showdown" on The Fan 590, but in the meantime he's already fired a warning shot to Jones Jr.

According to MMAMemories.com, Twinkle Toes stated "Let’s do this Roy, give the power back to the athlete & the fans. Let’s find out how your science matches my up to my art.”

Grease gate goes on... sort of

During Wednesday's proceedings at the Nevada State Athletic Commission, BJ Penn's camp was hoping some swift action (or at least a decision would be made) by the commission, that would eventually discipline Georges St. Pierre and his corner men, Greg Jackson and Phil Nurse. According to MMA Junkie.com, the commission took no official action, with one of the commissioners, Pat Lundvall stating ""I don't have any interest in recommending there be disciplinary action taken."

It remains to be seen if anything will ever come from this, but I'm betting that if BJ does get past Kenny Florian at UFC 101, he will begin to lobby for a rematch with GSP immediately.

Keeping up with the Gracie's

It's a twisted passion I have, but having been around this game for so long, I am always intrigued as to what members of the Gracie family are up. The nostalgia inside me is always subliminally wishing that a Gracie would once again rule the world of MMA.

According the Sports Illustrated, Roger Gracie is all but signed with Strikeforce.

Roger is a world class grappler (shocking eh?) and is 2-0 in MMA. I've seen both of his fights and he is on his way. What separates him from the legendary Royce Gracie? Roger is 6' 6" and weighs 220 lbs and is aiming for a career at heavyweight. I'm betting his management will eventually convince him to go to light-heavyweight.
