The much anticipated matchup between UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and challenger Shane Carwin has already been postponed from the originally scheduled UFC 106 date on Nov. 21 after an illness caused Lesnar to miss a large chunk of training time.

But there are now reports the situation is worse than expected and that he won't be ready for the proposed rescheduled date of Jan. 2, when the organization will hold its year-end show, UFC 108.

While it was initially thought Lesnar may have contracted the swine flu, some are suggesting he continues to suffer from a sickness such as mononucleosis, causing him to be too fatigued to put in his regular training.

Sources close to Lesnar's gym, Minnesota Martial Arts Academy, told Heavy.com he has spent very little time there in the past month and has been unable to effectively work through his illness.

Unless he is able to return to full training soon, that could mean one of the UFC's top draws wouldn't be back in the Octagon before February's Super Bowl weekend event, or later.
