Victoria's Sarah Kaufman will defend her Strikeforce welterweight title against Dutch fighter Marloes Coenen on Oct. 9 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose.

On the same mixed martial arts card, Nick Diaz will put his men's (170-pound) welterweight title on the line although an opponent has yet to be announced.

Veteran middleweight Matt (The Law) Lindland (22-7) will take on Luke Rockhold (7-1), who has made his name in the developmental Strikeforce Challengers series.

Kaufman (12-0) has complained in recent months that she deserves to be on the main Strikeforce cards, rather than the secondary Challengers events. She gets her wish against the 29-year-old Coenen (17-4).

Coenen, a submission specialist, is moving down a weight class since suffering a third-round TKO loss to Cris Cyborg for the Strikeforce women's middleweight (145-pound) title.

Kaufman is coming off the first defence of her title, a body slam KO of Roxanne Modafferi in July.

Diaz (22-7) has won seven consecutive fights since his last loss in 2007. His last outing was a first-round submission win over Hayato (Mach) Sakurai in May 29 at Dream 14 in Japan.
