A stellar bantamweight bout between former WEC 135-pound champion Brian Bowles (8-1) and Wagnney "The Silencer" Fabiano (14-2) is rumoured to go down at WEC 52, tentatively scheduled for Nov. 10.

Fabiano, a BJJ black belt, is riding a two fight winning streak, having defeated both Clint Godfrey (WEC 46) and Frank Gomez (WEC 49) by unanimous decisions.

After defeating Miguel Angel Torres to win WEC gold, Bowles was unable to defend the title in next bout, falling short to current champion Dominick Cruz at WEC 47 via TKO. That bout took place on March 6 and Bowles has yet to compete since.

If Fabiano is his next opponent, it will be his first bout in eight months.

Sources close to the bout have informed me that the winner of this fight will likely be next in line for a title shot.

However, rumoured WEC 52 main event headliners Urijah Faber and Takeya Mizugaki will likely have a say in that as well.

"The California Kid" has placed a bull's eye on Cruz's back, after the latter defeated his "Team Alpha Male" teammate Joseph Benavidez for the second time at WEC 50 on Aug. 18.

While not confirmed by World Extreme Cagefighting, WEC 52: Faber vs. Mizugaki is expected to take place at The Arco Arena, in San Diego, California.
