Shane Carwin is looking to bounce back after a tough loss to Brock Lesnar at UFC 116.

It appears that a heavyweight bout between Shane Carwin and Roy (Big Country) Nelson is being targeted for UFC 125, on Jan. 1, 2011.

Sources close to the bout have informed Sportsnet that the two heavyweights will lock horns on the main card of UFC's first show of the New Year.

Carwin (12-1) will be returning to the octagon after suffering the first loss of his professional MMA career, an arm triangle submission to heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar at UFC 116. While Carwin dominated the champion in the first round, scored by many as a 10-8, he punched himself out in the process, citing "lactic acidosis" for the reason he was unable to perform in the second round.

Nelson (15-5), is coming off an inspirational performance against top contender Junior dos Santos at UFC 117, a bout he lost via unanimous decision.

The matchup pits two heavy handed fighters with differing grappling styles. Carwin, known for his stellar wrestling acumen, while Big Country is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and while not preferred, will likely have no issues competing off his back.

Carwin posted on his Twitter account that with the bout occurring on Jan. 1, 2011, should he score a knockout at 1:11 of the first round, he will give away his gloves to a lucky follower.

UFC 125 will be held in Las Vegas, NV at the MGM Grand Garden and Arena. The event is expected to be headlined by a lightweight title fight between champion Frankie (The Answer) Edgar and No. 1 contender, Gray (The Bully) Maynard.

    Other rumoured fights include:

Light heavyweight bout: Brandon (The Truth) Vera vs. Thiago Silva

Middleweight bout: Chris (The Crippler) Leben vs. Brian Stann

Lightweight bout: Jacob (Christmas) Volkmann vs. Antonio (Mandingo) McKee (UFC debut)
