Conor McGregor is a featherweight who has been competing at welterweight but his UFC 202 paycheque is super heavyweight.
The Irish superstar, win or lose, is set to earn a disclosed purse of $3 million for his rematch with Nate Diaz, according to information released by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC). That is a new record for a UFC athlete.
Diaz isn’t too far behind McGregor either. The Stockton, Calif., native is set to take home a base purse of $2 million for UFC 202.
Brock Lesnar’s $2.5 million purse from UFC 200 in July was the previous record.
These figures do not include bonuses, sponsorship dollars, or anything they might make from pay-per-view points.
McGregor made a base purse of $1 million (a record at the time) for their first encounter at UFC 196 in March. Diaz took home a then-career high $500,000 that night, according to the NSAC.
