Hunt earns walk-off KO of Mir at UFC Brisbane

Mark Hunt added Frank Mir to his growing list of walk-off knockout victims Saturday at a UFC Fight Night event in Brisbane, Australia.

Hunt (12-10-1) landed a flush right hand to the back of Mir’s left ear that dropped the former heavyweight champion three minutes into the first round of their heavyweight bout. While most fighters in Hunt’s position would have followed up with strikes until the referee intervened, Hunt saw Mir was done and simply walked away.

Mir (18-11) has now lost two straight and six of his last eight fights. Of his 11 career losses, eight have come via knockout or TKO.

In recent years, Hunt has also picked up walk-off KO wins over Roy Nelson, Stefan Struve and Chris Tuchscherer.

The 41-year-old earned a Performance of the Night bonus for what was his sixth knockout win in the UFC.

Neil Magny picked up the biggest victory of his career, stopping Hector Lombard with strikes late in the third round of their co-main event welterweight matchup.

Canadian Steve Bosse picked up a massive KO win by putting away James Te-Huna in 52 seconds. It was the former minor league hockey enforcer’s first win in the UFC.

Chatham, Ont.’s Chad Laprise was on the wrong end of a split decision as he and popular veteran Ross Pearson went back and forth for three rounds in preliminary action.
