A heavyweight bout between Brendan Schaub and Matt Mitrione has been added to the UFC 165 card in Toronto on Sept. 21 at the Air Canada Centre.
The fight was originally scheduled to take place on July 27 at the UFC on FOX event in Seattle, but an injury to Mitrione forced its postponement.
Schaub (9-3) snapped a two-fight losing streak in his last outing as he picked up a unanimous decision win over Lavar Johnson at UFC 157 in February.
Mitrione (6-2) also bounced back from two straight losses with a 19-second knockout win over Philip De Fries in February.
The two former NFLers-turned-fighters were teammates on season 10 of The Ultimate Fighter and have both gone on to find success in the UFC — only TUF 10 winner Roy Nelson, who has KO wins over Schaub and Mitrione, has had more success in the UFC’s heavyweight division among fighters from that season.
UFC 165 is headlined by a light-heavyweight title bout between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson. The event also features an interim bantamweight title bout between Renan Barao and Eddie Wineland.
