Darren Elkins will replace an injured Clay Guida and take on former No. 1 contender Chad Mendes in a featherweight bout at UFC on FOX 7 in San Jose on April 20, the UFC announced Tuesday.
It will be a quick turnaround for Elkins, who picked up a first-round TKO win over Canadian Antonio Carvalho at UFC 158 this past weekend in Montreal.
Elkins (16-2) is 5-0 since dropping to the 145-pound division and is the only fighter with five featherweight wins in the UFC.
Mendes (13-1) is coming off back-to-back first-round knockout wins over Cody McKenzie and Yaotzin Meza following a loss to champion Jose Aldo last January in Brazil.
UFC on FOX 7 is headlined by a UFC lightweight title bout between defending champ Benson Henderson and Strikeforce champ Gilbert Melendez.
