Former Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion Sarah Kaufman will make her UFC debut against Olympic silver medallist Sara McMann at UFC on FOX Sports 1: 2 on Aug. 28.
Kaufman (16-2) bounced back from a 54-second loss to Ronda Rousey last August with a decision win over Leslie Smith at Invicta FC 5: Penne vs. Waterson in April.
The Victoria, B.C., native will become just the second Canadian woman to fight in the UFC – Alexis Davis is set to become the first at UFC 161 in Winnipeg on June 15.
McMann (7-0) is coming off a dominant first-round TKO win in her UFC debut over Sheila Gaff at UFC 159 in April.
The winner of this bout could potentially put themselves in a position to fight for a title shot, as both women are considered top-five fighters in the female bantamweight division.
UFC on FOX Sports 1: 2 takes place at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and is headlined by an anticipated rematch between welterweight stars Carlos Condit and Martin Kampmann.
