UFC superstar Ronda Rousey will throw out the first pitch at Friday’s Baltimore Orioles game.
UFC 172 takes place at the Baltimore Arena the following day. It is the first time the UFC has held an event in the city. The UFC women’s bantamweight champion is not on the card, but is helping promote the event.
PROGRAMMING NOTE: Watch UFC 172 prelims Saturday on Sportsnet 360 starting at 8 p.m. EST / 5 p.m. PST
Rousey is not the first fighter to throw out a ceremonial pitch at an MLB game in recent months. Rising lightweight contender Myles Jury did at a Detroit Tigers game earlier this month and last September UFC light-heavyweight champ Jon Jones did at a Toronto Blue Jays game.
Jones, who headlines Saturday’s event against Glover Teixeira, showed that he’s better at throwing strikes with his hands and feet than he is at throwing strikes from the pitcher’s mound.
Rousey (9-0) next fights in the UFC 175 co-main event against Canadian Alexis Davis on July 5. Since making her UFC debut last February, the 27-year-old has become one of the sport’s biggest stars.
