Canadian pair Anabelle Langlois and Cody Hay have withdrawn from the world figure skating championships, ending their bid for a comeback this season.

The duo hasn't competed this year after Langlois, from Gatineau, Que., suffered a fractured right fibula during a practice session last summer. She has undergone surgery and rehab but is still not ready for competition.

Langlois and Hay, the 2008 Canadian pairs champions, will now shift their focus to the 2010 Olympics.

"This entire season has been very challenging and disappointing," Hay, a native of Grande Prairie, Alta., said in a statement Monday. "Although we tried our best to get back to compete this year, we have also had to think ahead to next season, bearing in mind that competing at the 2010 Olympics is our ultimate goal."

Mylene Brodeur of Standbridge Station, Que., and John Mattatall of Wallace, N.S., will replace Langlois and Hay at the world championships, which begin March 22 in Los Angeles.
