97 days to Sochi: Meet the Mascots

Meet the Sochi Games mascots: The Leopard, the Hare and the Polar Bear.

We’re 97 days out from the Olympic Games opening ceremony, so it’s about time we met the mascots.

Russia went with a wilderness theme: the Polar Bear, the Hare and the Leopard. (Yes, those are their actual names.) And they have sweet bios.

The Polar Bear lives in a home made entirely of snow and ice—even his shower shoots out snow. PB is good with computers, he’s a great bobsledder, and he also loves skiing, curling and speed-skating.

The Hare is the singer and dancer in the crew, and she loves skating. Little Hare is not only a huge sports fan, she’s also a top student at the Forest Academy and she works in the family restaurant, The Forest Dam.

The Leopard, like PB, loves snowboarding, and like The Hare, he dances up a storm when he feels like it. The spotted guy lives in a tree in the mountains—you should see him scale to the top—and he’s single-handedly saved the region from avalanches by setting off the alarm to awaken his sleeping friends at the bottom of the mountain.

This is all true. So, there you have it, the goods on the fuzzy, smiling, costumed trio you’ll see parading around Sochi in February.
