NICE, France — One of Lance Armstrong’s former teammates who is now the director of a team riding in the Tour de France is helping anti-doping authorities build cases against other people connected to cycling.
Orica GreenEDGE chief Matt White admitted to doping when his name came up in the Armstrong scandal, having ridden with the American on the now-defunct U.S. Postal team.
The Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority said Tuesday that White had provided "substantial assistance" during its investigation of cycling and that he "is helping establish violations against others." It did not elaborate.
White’s assistance led to his two-year ban, which started last October, being reduced to six months, meaning it has now ended.
Orica GreenEDGE collected its first stage win at the Tour de France on Monday thanks to a sprint-finish victory by Australia’s Simon Gerrans in Stage 3.
