SYDNEY, Australia — Australian swimmer Mitch Larkin has set a short course world record in the 200 metres backstroke final at the Australian Short Course Championships.
Larkin’s time of 1minute, 45.63 seconds was over half a second faster than the previous record of 1:46.11 set by Russia’s Arkady Vyatchanin at the 2009 World Short Course Championships.
Larkin claimed gold in both the 100m and 200m backstroke at Russia’s World Championships in August.
