INAWASHIRO, Japan — Alex Bilodeau of Rosemere, Que., placed second behind Bradley Wilson of the United States at a World Cup dual moguls event on Sunday.

Canada’s Mikael Kingsbury, who won Saturday’s moguls race and leads the overall standings, was fifth behind Japan’s Sho Kashima.

Joseph Discoe, also of the United States, was third.

"The course was really amazing today, not slick like yesterday, and everybody brought their A game," said Bilodeau. "But I was skiing really well and managed to win everything except the final.

"(In the final) I huge head start at the first air, in fact he was just going off the jump when I was landing, but somehow he caught up in the middle section. I really don’t know how he did that because I was going pretty fast," added Bilodeau.

In the women’s race, Miki Ito of Japan captured her first victory of the season by finishing ahead of Mikaela Matthews and Hannah Kearney, both from the United States.

With the 60 points she received on Sunday, Kearney moved into first place in the standings with 513 points, three ahead of Justine Dufour-Lapointe of Montreal, who finished eighth.

Quebec City’s Audrey Robichaud was seventh and Maxime Dufour-Lapointe was 11th.

The next World Cup event is in Are, Sweden, on March 15-16.
