#Blizzardof2015: How sports are being affected

A winter storm is about to hit the Eastern seaboard in the United States and it is expected to have an impact on the professional sports world.

The storm is projected to produce one to three feet of snow in certain parts of the Northeastern U.S., there have been thousands of flights cancelled, states of emergency have been declared and travel bans imposed.

The NBA postponed home games for the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets due to the storm system.

The NHL returns from its all-star break Tuesday with games in New York and Pennsylvania that could be affected by the storm, however the NHL has yet to announce any postponements.

The Rangers visit the Islanders in a battle of New York teams, while the Jets and Coyotes visit the Penguins and Flyers, respectively.

On Wednesday, the New Jersey Devils host the Toronto Maple Leafs in an arena expected to be covered with snow. The Maple Leafs confirmed to Sportsnet their Tuesday flight had been pushed back from the afternoon into the evening, but that the team expects to travel to New Jersey.
