LAS VEGAS — Canada won the plate championship at the Las Vegas Sevens rugby tournament Sunday with a 22-5 victory over Scotland.
Scotland scored an early try that turned out to be their last just one minute into the match on a run by James Fleming.
But Canada regrouped to dominate the remainder of the match with tries from John Moonlight, Conor Trainor, Nanyak Dala and Harry Jones. Nathan Hirayama chipped in with a convert but also had three misses.
Canada advanced to the final after beating the United States 24-19 in the semifinal earlier in the day.
The team now moves on to the next leg of the IRB World Sevens Series next month in Hong Kong.
