TRIESTE, Italy — Lucy Charuk of Tsawwassen, B.C., had nine points as Turkey defeated Canada 3-0 (25-10, 25-12, 25-17) at the world women’s volleyball championship Wednesday.
Ozsoy Neriman had a game-high 16 points for Turkey.
"Turkey beat us on serves and attacks," Canadian coach Arnd Ludwig said. "We tried to manage the game, but they put a lot of pressure on us.
"The first part of the first set was our best moment but in the end, we could not do much."
Canada opened the tournament with a 3-1 win over Cameroon and will face top-ranked Brazil on Thursday.
