TOKYO — World champions Meagan Duhamel of Lively, Ont., and Eric Radford of Balmertown, Ont., were second in the pairs short program Friday at the ISU World Team Trophy figure skating competition.

China’s Wenjing Sui and Cong Han were first ahead of Duhamel and Radford.

In the free dance, world champions Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron of France finished first. They edged Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje of Waterloo, Ont., by less than two points after the Canadians won the short dance Thursday.

But the Canadians remain fourth in the overall standings behind the U.S., Japan and Russia. Canada was the Olympic silver medallist in this event.

The men’s free skate was won by Japan’s Yuzuru Hanyu. Toronto’s Nam Nguyen was seventh and Vancouver’s Jeremy Ten finished ninth.
