Canada wins three golds at Canoe Sprint WC

RACICE, Czech Republic — Laurence Vincent-Lapointe won a pair of gold medals for Canada on the final day an ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup event in the Czech Republic.

Vincent-Lapointe, of Trois-Rivieres, Que., won the women’s 200-metre singles canoe then teamed with Sara-Jane Caumartin of Otterburn, Que., for a victory in the women’s 500-metre doubles.

Paul Bryant of Richmond Hill, Ont., also reached the top of the podium, capturing the men’s 5,000-metres.

Gabriel Beauchesne-Sevigny of Trois-Rivieres, Que., and Roland Varga of Ricmond Hill chipped in with a silver in the men’s 200-metre doubles, bringing Canada’s medal total at the event to five.

KC Fraser and Genevieve Beauchesne-Sevigny won bronze in women’s kayak 500-metre doubles on Saturday.
