It's customary for people to play pranks on each other on April Fool's Day so here are five of the best that occurred throughout the sports world on Wednesday (Tom Brady/Facebook)

On April Fool’s Day, it is customary (for better or worse) for people to play practical jokes or pranks on each other.

And a lot of the time, people take the bait.

Here are five April Fool’s Day pranks in the sports world that took place on Wednesday:

Argos vs. Bills?

The Toronto Argonauts put in a lot of effort, but we’re not buying it. The Argonauts announced earlier on Wednesday that they have scheduled an exhibition game with the Buffalo Bills on May 29 at Ralph Wilson Stadium. A fun concept in theory, but it seems fishy.

However, the effort should be rewarded. Heck, they even crafted a press release.

“We’re extremely excited about this opportunity and we think our fans should be excited too” Argos senior vince president David Bedford said in a statement. “We first established a partnership with the Buffalo franchise through the Bills in Toronto series, and we’re excited to be taking the next logical step with a head-to-head matchup between our teams.”

Bills head coach Rex Ryan lived in Toronto with his mother from 1966-1976. He is a noted Toronto Maple Leafs fan.

Colts new jerseys?

Some of their fans totally got sucked in, but it was just a playful prank by the Indianapolis Colts. THe Colts released a video on their official team website where they announced new “all-white” jerseys for the upcoming season. Literally, everything is white including the numbers.

This quote from Colts tight end Dwayne Allen gave it away:

“From a strategic, football standpoint, how can they scout us?” Allen said. “They can’t see our numbers.”

Tom Brady gives Patriots fans a scare … again

Who knew Tom Brady was such a prankster? Just days after Brady upset some New England fans after he posted a video on Facebook Saturday morning of himself jumping feet-first off a cliff, Brady went all out in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

Jordan’s crossover is no joke!

In the above post, Brady referenced Michael Jordan and even got Jordan to sign the cast! He recently played pickup basketball with the NBA Hall of Famer in the Bahamas.

Left-footed balls?

Apparently, Arsenal has a pretty good sense of humour. The club teamed up with Puma on to unveil the world’s first left-footed football (or soccer ball as they say in North America.) They called it a: Left-Footed evoPOWER Football.

Puma went as far as saying: the ball will “increase the accuracy, power and precision of a left-footed player.”

We hope no one actually fell for it.

Greg Jennings tricks media and fans

NFL wide receiver Greg Jennings went for the long con with his prank. The day before April Fool’s Jennings announced on Twitter that he had finally found a new team in free agency and urged fans and media that he would announce it just after 1 a.m. ET Wednesday morning.

So many people stayed up in anticipation of Jennings’ decision, including a portion of the NFL media. They must have forgot what day it was.

When Jennings announced his decision, he tweeted out to a link to a blank page.

It’s safe to say his prank didn’t appeal to everyone.

Shots. Fired.
