Are you the superstitious type who dreads Friday the 13th? Well, here are seven athletes who prove that the No. 13 could be a lucky number.

Check out the list below and submit your vote for the greatest No. 13 of all time.

Mats Sundin – Toronto Maple Leafs

Arguably the greatest Toronto Maple Leaf ever, Sundin was the first European player to be selected No. 1 overall in the NHL Draft, taken by the Quebec Nordiques in 1989.

He is the Maple Leafs’ all-time scoring leader with 987 points, and finished his career with 1,349 points in 1,346 career games.

The big Swede was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012, his first year of eligibility.

Dan Marino – Miami Dolphins

A dominating quarterback who terrorized the league for 17 seasons, Marino was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame in 2006 and is widely considered one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time. His only knock? He never won a Super Bowl Championship.

When Marino retired in 2000, he held almost every major passing record in the NFL including four games with 450-plus passing yards. Marino spent all 17 of his NFL seasons with Miami and is a nine-time Pro Bowler as well as a three-time First-Team All-Pro.

Wilt Chamberlain – Warriors, 76’ers, Lakers

One of the best centres to ever grace the court, “Wilt the Stilt” — or “The Big Dipper” — is the only player in NBA history to score 100 points in a single game.

Chamberlain was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1978 (his first year of eligibility) and in 1996 he was named one of the top 50 NBA players of all-time.

Chamberlain won two NBA titles (1967 and 1972) and was named NBA Finals MPV in his second championship win.

Steve Nash – Suns, Mavericks, Lakers

Regarded as one of the best Canadian players to ever play, Nash is a sure-fire Basketball Hall of Famer. He is an eight-time NBA All-Star and has lead the league in assists in five different seasons.

He’s also the first Canadian to be awarded the NBA’s Most Valuable Player Award, which he did in back-to-back seasons (2004-05 and 2005-06) as a member of the Suns.

Alex Rodriguez – Mariners, Rangers, Yankees

“A-Rod” has had a rough couple of years, but there’s no denying he is one of baseball’s greatest hitters. He’s the youngest player in MLB history to reach home run milestones of 300 (27 years, 249 days) 400 (27 years, 316 days) 500 (32 years, 8 days) and 600 (35 years, 8 days).

Rodriguez is a 14-time American League All-Star and is a three-time American League MVP. He hit his 24th career grand slam in September 2013, passing the great Lou Gehrig for career slams.

Alessandro Nesta – Lazio, AC Milan, Impact, Chennaiyin

The 38-year-old centre back retired last year but couldn’t stay away from the beautiful game. He’s playing with Chennaiyin FC of the Indian Super League this season.

Nesta is highly recognized as one of the greatest defenders to ever set foot onto a pitch. Nesta won an astounding four Serie A Defender of the Year titles along with being a four-time member of the UEFA Team of the Year.

A member of the Italian national team that won the World Cup in 2006, Nesta also won two Serie A titles and two Champions League titles with AC Milan.

Pavel Datsyuk – Detroit Red Wings

“The Magic Man” is one of the most respected and feared skill players in the NHL.

Datsyuk is a two-time Stanley Cup winner with the Red Wings and a four-time NHL All-Star. He’s a four-time Lady Byng winner, as well as a three-time Franke J. Selke winner.
