DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The Canadian duo of Rosie MacLennan and Samantha Sendel earned a silver medal on Sunday in the women’s synchro event at the 2014 world trampoline championships.

Sitting on the sidelines all week hoping for the effects of a recent concussion to clear up, Sendel, of Aurora, Ont., was given permission to compete earlier in the day.

Despite not being able to train together leading up to the final day of competition, the pair managed to take second place with a score of 47.200.

"We’ve trained together for years and she knows how I jump and I know how she jumps and that’s a really strong asset when you’re a synchro pair, so we just relied on our experience and it paid off," said Toronto’s MacLennan.

Tatsiana Piatrenia and Hanna Harchonak of Belarus had an identical score and were also awarded a silver medal while Liu Lingling and Li Meng of China won the gold with 47.800 points.

Sendel, who was forced to withdraw earlier in the competition from the women’s individual event after experiencing dizziness in training, said she felt fine again in a warmup just before the competition and was given the green light to go.

"My spatial awareness was off and that made it definitely difficult to jump, but the days off here definitely helped," said Sendel, who sustained a concussion in Toronto about a week before taking off to the world championships. "In the synchro event I was feeling back to right where I was before and we went out there with the mentality of ‘have fun and whatever happens, happens."’
