Martin out of Canadian Open due to surgery

Kevin Martin will not compete in the Canadian Open, a Grand Slam of Curling event starting on Dec. 12 in Kelowna, BC.

Martin is scheduled to have surgery on Tuesday for a hernia and is expected to be out for four weeks.

John Morris will skip for Team Martin, which opens the tournament against Team de Cruz on Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. ET.
